How do you know if customs seize your package?

In the case customs seizes your shipment or the package, they inform you by means of communication, called Notice 12A. Customs may delay or even destroy a shipment if it contains contraband products or contents that are forbidden or restricted. In this case, customs often do not inform you about the delivery of your shipment, but this is not always the case.

While in the custody of US Customs, they send the shipment to a Centralized Examination Station (CES). This is where it is segregated and thoroughly scrutinized by Customs executives. Customs has 35 days from the date of the cargo’s arrival to hold the goods for inspection. Therefore, we strongly recommend you keep tracking your shipment frequently.

These regulations are different according to each destination country. When we talk about the US, after 9/11, the regulations have been very non-accommodating.
